DAAD Scholarship: Faculty Research Visit Grant

DAAD is pleased to announce that we have reinstated our Research Visit Grant for Faculty.

DAAD offers grants for one to three months in all academic disciplines to scholars at US and Canadian institutions of higher education to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany. Grants are awarded for specific research projects and cannot be used for travel only, attendance at conferences or conventions, editorial meetings, lecture tours or extended guest professorships.

Note: We have additional funding for former one-year DAAD scholarship holders to spend one to three months completing a research or work project at a university or research institute in Germany. If you are an annual grant alumnus/a please view our re-invitation program.

Requirements
* Scholars at United States or Canadian universities or research institutions who hold the Ph.D. (or equivalent) and have been working in research or teaching full time for at least two years after receipt of the doctorate are eligible.

* Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada. German nationals must have been affiliated with a United States or Canadian institution in full-time employment for at least six consecutive years.

* Scholarship decisions are made by an independent academic selection committee based on an outstanding academic record and potential, an evaluation of the validity and feasibility of the proposed project, and of the necessity to carry it out in Germany.

* Applicants should possess adequate knowledge of the German language to carry out the proposed research.

* Applicants may not hold a DAAD grant and a grant from another German or German-American organization consecutively or concurrently for the same project.

* Former recipients of DAAD research grants who wish to apply again may do so after a lapse of at least three years.

Terms of Award
Depending on the applicant's academic status, the monthly award will amount to €1,840 for assistant lecturers, assistant professors and young lecturers, and €1,990 for professors. In rare special cases, up to €2,240 may be awarded. If the applicants' research project requires travel within Germany DAAD may provide a travel subsidy.
All DAAD Grantees receive mandatory health insurance through DAAD. Their monthly contribution to the insurance is deducted from the stipend: €127 for women and €69 for men.
