Sweden: PhD in Mathematical Statistics, Umea University

PhD-student in Mathematical Statistics at the department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics.

Starting date September 1, 2008, or by agreement.

The post-graduate student will work in a research group in stochastic processes and numeric analysis of random functions, with applications to signal and image processing and to simulation techniques. Current research areas also include financial mathematics, stochastic modeling for databases, and data mining. The mathematics which the group focuses on is stochastic processes, inference for random functions, and approximation theory. Programming in, for example, Splus and Matlab, will be a natural part of the PhD program.

A suitable background for the applicant is primarily undergraduate studies in mathematical statistics. Sweden: PhD Student Positions at the School of Electrical Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology

The Communication Theory Lab is conducting research and education in the general area of digital communications and in wireless communications in particular. * Cognitive radio, spectrum sensing and dynamic radio resource allocation
* Cooperative coding and transmission techniques in wireless sensor networks
* Wireless communications in automatic control

Required Qualifications
The candidate should hold the degree of Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Engineering Physics, or an equivalent degree.

Employment
The position is intended for pursuing individual doctoral studies. The position will include 80% research and 20% teaching assistance. The salary is based on the existing employment agreement for PhD position.

Sweden: Scholarships for Master in Electronic Government, Örebro university

Örebro university, Sweden, is now accepting applications for our Master Programme in Electronic Government, for start September 2008.

We can now offer a few scholarchips for master students from developing countries who apply to our eGov master program (see below). Grants are subject to competition. To be eligible the students must:

1. Provide a recommendation letter from her/his university
2. Apply before February 1st, 2008, providing information as of below.
3. Grants are subject to the student going back to work isn her/his home country after graduation.
