Scholarships for postgraduate study at Oxford

  1. Scholarships not restricted by region
  2. Africa
  3. Asia
  4. Australasia
  5. Europe
  6. Middle East
  7. North America/Caribbean
  8. Other funding and scholarships information for international students

The above sections describe around 300 awards which will be available to international students for graduate study at Oxford in 2007-8. Each scholarship scheme has its own conditions of eligibility and you should read the entries carefully. To find out more about the awards for which you might be eligible, you should look first at those in Sections 1 and 8, which are not restricted to students from one geographical region. You should then look at awards for students from your own region.

Scholarship application procedures

To apply for many of the scholarships administered by the University, you should complete the funding sections of the graduate admissions form. You should also check the admissions deadline for your chosen course of study. This is particularly important because some departments or faculties require Clarendon and ORS candidates to apply for admission in the first or second gathered field. Candidates applying for admission after the third gathered field (12 January 2007) cannot be considered for any scholarships listed on the form other than those offered by the Karim Rida Said Foundation (see Middle East funding information for details).

As you will see from the entries on the following pages, some scholarships have separate application forms and these can be obtained by downloading them from the web pages or contacting the International Office. Candidates should not wait until they have been accepted by the University before applying for these scholarships.

Several external funding agencies (including Fulbright and Commonwealth Scholarships Commission) pass to the University the papers of their prospective scholars to serve as an admissions application. However, if you are applying for any of these awards, you should also submit an independent application by the closing date of the first or second gathered fields.
