PhD Student, Department of Computer Science

Would you like to join a team of interesting, motivated and hard- working people doing cutting edge research on autonomous distributed systems? In a unique collaboration on “Web service agreement negotiation and management in large scale autonomous distributed systems”, between the IIDS group at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Man Machine Interaction Group at the University of Delft and Thales Research and Technology in the Netherlands, your focus will be on web service agreement negotiation and risk assessment (including approximation of dynamic, negotiation spaces). Simulations of large scale negotiation in domains of application such as crisis management, will be used for evaluation. Different policies, mechanisms, and protocols will be proposed, implemented and compared.

Requirements
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with a MSc degree in Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence. Knowledge of distributed systems and an interest in negotiation and autonomic systems in addition to above described requirements work to your advantage.

Appointment
The appointment will be initially for 1 year. If the results are successful the appointed period will be prolonged for in totally 4 years, intended to result in a dissertation. You can visit our website www.vu.nl/vacatures for a review of working conditions at the VU.

Salary
Gross monthly salary starts at € 2.000,- in the first year and increases to € 2.558,- in the last year of the appointment, based on a fulltime employment.
